Privacy Policy
Text Resurrect is an Android keyboard that can keep a recovery history of what you type, on your phone only. The app has no Internet permission, no account, and no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. This policy explains what the keyboard handles, where it is kept, and how you control it.
Who provides Text Resurrect
Text Resurrect is developed by Adam Heikkila. This policy covers the Text Resurrect Android app and this website. The privacy contact appears below.
Text you type
When Text Resurrect is your selected keyboard, it processes your key presses to show what you type and to provide suggestions, autocorrect, and capitalization. This happens on your phone.
Saving a recovery history is off until you turn it on in the app and accept an on-screen explanation. While saving is on, the keyboard saves text you type or dictate through it, including personal messages and any sensitive information you enter. Corrected words are saved in their corrected form. Text Resurrect does not read or import text that was already in a field, text typed with another keyboard, or text typed before saving was turned on, and it does not read your clipboard.
What is not saved
Text Resurrect does not save text in fields that the other app identifies as password fields (including visible and web passwords), in number, phone, and date fields, in fields that ask keyboards not to learn from them (often used for private or incognito typing), or in fields whose English label indicates a password, passcode, PIN, verification code, security code, or one-time code. It also does not save while you have paused saving, in apps you have excluded, or when the app being typed in cannot be identified.
Email-address and web-address fields are saved like other text fields. Field identification depends on the other app, and the keyboard cannot recognize every secret typed into an ordinary field. Use Pause or Exclude app on the keyboard when you do not want something saved.
Information stored with each entry
For each saved entry, the app stores the text, the package name of the app you were typing in (for example, a messaging app's Android app identifier), when the entry was created and last updated, when it will expire, its size, and whether you marked it to keep. The app also stores your settings, including whether saving is on or paused, your expiration and storage choices, your list of excluded apps, and keyboard preferences.
If the app stops unexpectedly, it keeps a local crash note containing the app version, Android version, phone manufacturer and model, the time, and technical program locations. The crash note does not contain your typed text. It stays on your phone unless you choose to copy it, and you can clear it in the app.
Storage and protection
Your history is stored in the app's private storage on your phone. Saved text is encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a key held in the Android Keystore, which the app cannot export. The other entry information listed above, your settings, and your excluded-app list are stored in the app's private storage without that additional encryption. The app blocks screenshots of its history screens.
Protect your phone with a screen lock and current security updates. No storage method can protect against every compromise of a device.
Where your data goes
The Text Resurrect app does not have Android's Internet permission. It contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or other third-party software development kits, and it does not send your typed text, history, or other information to the developer or to anyone else. There is no Text Resurrect account and no developer-hosted cloud history. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
Information leaves the app only when you choose to move it:
- Copy places an entry on the Android clipboard, marked as sensitive content.
- Share sends an entry as text to the app you pick in Android's share menu.
- Copy crash details places the crash note on the clipboard so you can send it if you wish.
The app or person receiving a copy handles it under its own practices. Deleting an entry in Text Resurrect does not delete copies you created elsewhere.
Backups and moving to a new phone
Text Resurrect excludes its history, settings, and other app files from Android cloud backup and from device-to-device transfer. Its encryption key stays in the Android Keystore of the original phone. Your saved history does not move to a new phone.
Voice input
The keyboard's microphone button provides dictation on Android 12 and later. It asks for microphone permission the first time you tap it, after explaining how it is used. Typing does not need this permission, and you can revoke it in Android settings at any time.
Text Resurrect uses only Android's on-device speech recognition service and does not fall back to an online recognizer. The app does not record, store, or receive your audio; the phone's speech recognition service listens while you dictate and returns the recognized words. On Android 13 and later, if a speech model is missing, the phone's speech service downloads it only after you tap Download. That service is provided by your phone's maker or another provider (often Google) under its own privacy practices. Dictated words are inserted into the field and are saved in your history the same way as typed text when saving is on. Dictation is turned off in password, private, number, and other non-text fields.
Retention
Each ordinary entry expires a set time after its last saved change. The default is 24 hours; you can choose 1 hour, 24 hours, or 7 days for new entries. Expired entries are removed when the app or keyboard next runs, not by a background timer, so an expired encrypted entry can remain on the phone until then.
The history also has a storage limit you choose (50, 100, or 250 MB; 100 MB by default). When space is needed, expired entries are removed first, then the oldest ordinary entries. Entries you mark to keep never expire and are not removed to free space; if kept entries fill the storage limit, new text is not saved until you free space. Unmarking an entry starts a new expiration period.
Deleting your data
In the app you can delete a single entry, including a kept entry, or use Delete all saved segments to remove every saved entry, including kept entries. Your settings and excluded-app list remain after Delete all. You can also clear crash details. To remove everything, including settings, clear the app's storage in Android settings or uninstall the app. See Data Deletion for step-by-step instructions.
Purchases
The app contains no in-app purchases or billing code. If Text Resurrect is sold on Google Play, Google handles the purchase under Google's own privacy practices, and we receive only the order information Google provides to developers.
Future features
Optional accounts and cloud storage are not part of the current app. Before introducing them, we will update this policy, provide the required disclosures and choices, and offer a working account and cloud-data deletion process.
Support inquiries
If you contact us, we use the contact details and information you provide to respond to your question or privacy request. Do not include your saved keyboard history unless you choose to share a specific excerpt. We keep support records only as long as needed to handle your inquiry and meet legal or recordkeeping obligations.
This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers, forms, or browser storage. Its keyboard illustration uses fixed sample text. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses and request details to deliver and secure the site. Our web server does not keep a log of page visits, and its limited error log is rotated automatically. Following a link to another website takes you to that site's privacy practices.
Younger users
Text Resurrect is intended for people aged 13 and older. It does not verify age. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through support, contact us so we can delete it.
Policy changes
We will post revisions on this page and update the effective date. Where a change requires additional notice or consent, we will provide it before the changed practice begins.
